ReplyDeleteAfter Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin in 1793, cotton became very profitable. The machine was able to reduce the time it takes to split the seeds from the cotton. However, at the same time the increase of the number of plantations willing to move from other crops to cotton meant the greater need for a large amount of cheap slave labors. The Missouri Compromise allowed the slave-empire to extend Westward, so it can claim that the empire gave substance to the future Confederacy. If there had been no compromise, then the civil war would have started much sooner.The Abolitionists were the people who created a movement to end slavery.
ReplyDeleteEli Whitney's invention helped slavery to grow because it gave slaveholders a reason to get more slaves and it gave the people who opposed slavery a bigger reason to fight against slavery. The Missouri Compromise gave free states and slave states the right to have power over themselves and not for others to have power over them.
ReplyDeleteThe cotton gin was one of the reasons why many slave owners went out to find more slaves.But the Missouri compromise helped the slave states and slaves to have rights instead of other people having right over them.

ReplyDeleteThe Missouri compromise & the cotton gin both lead to the civil war because Eli Whitney's's invention produced more slavery & caused more problems to ending it while the Missouri compromise tried to balance the number of slave states & free states.
ReplyDeleteEli's invention help and grow slavery by having easy parts to help repair machine and make their life's faster and easier. Because of the cotton gin, slave owners expanded their business while the compromise help slaves get their own beneficial rights.
