  2. The Populists were focused on reforming the economic system. The Progressives focused on reforming the political process as a whole. I would make America better by giving the people a revolutionary change. The achievement for the Populists was that they left important legacies for the American political system. The achievement for the Progressives was that they wanted to achieve the goal of more society and better educated citizens. My future personal achievement is to move forward not back.

  5. The populist believe it is right to vote in a secret ballot. The Progressives was an effort to cure many of the ills of American society. I would build more hospitals, shelters, and more schools. The populists didn't achieve anything. The progressives had great achievements among which Native Americans. Womans Conditions. I would achieve mostly all my problems

  6. The Populist Party helped draw attention to issues that were not being addressed, even though they were major problems at the time. One of those issues was how to elect senators. The Progressive reform movement was social, political, and economic in the US at the local, state, and national levels. It started following the depression of 1873 and lasted until 1917. There had been very little regulation of business at any level since the beginning of the United States and a huge gap occurred between the rich and the poor.

  7. The populist party may not have survived but some of their ideas did. For instance taking a look at the u.s. constitution, the 16th amendment allows the federal government to levy an income tax. Or the 17th amendment which provides for the direct, popular election of senators. The progressives came from a long tradition of middle-class elites possessing a strong sense of social duty to the poor.

  8. The Populists called for the abolition of national banks and for the government ownership of railroads and the telegraph. The Progressives had FDR as a progressive and he did plenty. He used communist Russia as his greatest influence for his New Deal programs. I would make America better by helping out the Youth and helping people with no home, food, or money.

  11. 1.Populist sentiment contributed to the American Revolutionary War, and continued to shape the young United States afterward.
2.The Progressive Era was a period of social activism and political reform in the United States, that flourished from 1900 to 1917. One main goal of the Progressive movement was purification of government, as Progressives tried to eliminate corruption by exposing and undercutting political machines and bosses.

  15. Populist still plays an important role in contemporary American politics. Politicians speak the language of populism whenever they defend ordinary people against entrenched elites and a government dominated by special interests.
